The Dr. Loosen Manor has been owned by the same family for over 200 years. When Ernst Loosen took ownership in 1988, he realized that with the average age of the ungrafted vines in some of Germany's most acclaimed vineyards being 60 years old, he had a world-class brew of extremely concentrated wine. Raw materials for wine. Lobenberg: Ernie has been making wine with residual sweetness for some time using a process he calls a tea bag system. So infuse the whole berry like a tea bag. To do this, approximately 10% of the whole grapes are placed in the tank, then fresh must is added and natural fermentation begins. The wine is then separated from the grapes and placed in wood for storage. Ernie is returning more and more to wood, for GG anyway, but now also for Prädikate. All Loosen cupboards contain between 35g and a maximum of 45g of residual sugar, as has always been classic before such sugar wars began. As a result, the cabinet can express its performance in full: elegant, sophisticated, crisp and fast. Ernie was looking for a classic, fruity Mosel style, and the 2022 vintage suited that openness and juiciness perfectly. Aromas of black and white currant, elderberry and some lychee hit the nose. While the acidity of the previous year's 2021 was extremely fresh and sharp, the acidity of 2022 is more complete, harmonious and refined. The freshness is there and the 2022 Carby is flying, but there’s more balance between fruit and acidity. In addition, the wood gives an extra thrust and structural dimension that complements the high mineral content of the area. The rich yellow fruit is absolutely wonderful, so rich, expressive and so refined. This is an incredibly delicious and fruity wine cabinet because this wine is a perfectly balanced and fruity Mosel wine, what a beautiful grape juice. 95+/100
