Matured in 100% new oak barrels, it has a ruby red color and displays rich aromas of red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry, along with subtle spices and oak notes. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with fresh acidity, soft tannins and a balanced structure. The finish is long with a hint of mineral freshness.
It is an excellent accompaniment to all red meat dishes such as roast lamb or steak, and also complements beef stew or game dishes. For Taiwanese cuisine pairing, we recommend pairing it with Three Cup Chicken or Braised Pork Rice, as the rich flavors of these dishes blend perfectly with the fruitiness and acidity of the wine.
The Haute-Côte de Nuits region is located on the high slopes of Burgundy, where the vineyards enjoy higher altitudes and varying angles of exposure to the sun. The region's climate is characterized by mild summers and cool nights, which contribute to the slow ripening of the grapes, thus preserving their acidity and aromas. The soil is mainly composed of limestone and clay, and this unique soil structure gives the wine a rich mineral flavor and elegant structure.
The grapes are harvested by hand to ensure that each grape reaches optimal maturity. The grapes are 100% destemmed and alcoholic fermentation is carried out using specially selected yeasts. During the final stage of fermentation, the temperature rises to 40°C for about 24 hours to extract more flavor and color. The wine is matured in 100% new oak barrels and is not filtered or clarified before bottling to preserve its natural flavor.
story
The Gros family has been producing wine in Vosne-Romanee for more than 160 years, first under the name Domaine Gros-Renaudot, with top vineyards in important appellations such as Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, Grand Echezeaux and Echezeaux. The family estate was divided into four parts in 1963, and the parts of the eldest daughter Collette and the eldest son Gustave were merged to form Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur. Since the two had no children (unmarried), they asked their nephew Jean's son Bernard Gros to help with winemaking in 1980. Since 1984, the business has been fully handed over to Bernard to run independently. Although Bernard is young, he grew up in a wine family and has been influenced by it since childhood. He has unique insights into vineyard management and winemaking. He subsequently purchased some very good vineyards in Hautes Cotes de Nuits, planting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. He also replanted nearly 90% of the vines in all the vineyards in pursuit of higher quality grapes. In terms of winemaking, he follows the family tradition while introducing modern equipment and techniques. All grapes are harvested and screened manually, and after 100% destemming, they are placed in large cement tanks for fermentation. He prefers to buy the raw materials himself, air-dry them, and then hand them over to the cooperage to make oak barrels of ideal standards. All wines except Hautes Cotes de Nuits are aged in 100% new barrels. Hautes Cotes de Nuits uses barrels that have been used by Vonse-Romanee for 1 to 2 years. After more than 30 years of operation, Bernard Gros has made Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur, which was originally owned by his aunt and uncle, even more famous. In addition to owning the rare Richebourg, Grands Echezeaux, Echezeaux and Clos de Vougeot next to Musigny, In addition to the unique advantages of four top vineyards such as "Musigni", his own investment and hard work in the winemaking business are the most important reasons for his extraordinary reputation today. Almost all wine fans around the world are familiar with Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur, nicknamed the "Golden Cup". So this is definitely the time to award this glorious trophy representing victory to Bernard Gros!
