It is the second distillery of MARS Distillery. Kagoshima is the birthplace of Honbo Distillery. As the southernmost whisky distillery in Japan, the distillery is located in the green countryside in the southwest of the Satsuma Peninsula.
However, the Jinguan Distillery located in the basin has northwest winds in winter, and sometimes it is so cold that there is often snow, and the climate is extremely hot and humid in summer. Unlike the cool climate where the Shinshu distillery is located at an altitude of 798 meters,
Tsukanori Distillery belongs to the warm climate, located in the southernmost tip of Japan, with an altitude of only 60 meters, so it is expected to produce stronger and richer whisky.
In November 2016, "Mars Tsunuki Distillery" (Mars Tsunuki Distillery) was established in Kaseta, Minamisatsuma City, Kagoshima Prefecture, where Honbo Sake Brewery is located. Honbo Sake Brewery has a history of more than 140 years in Tsunuki.
The water source of Tsukanishi Distillery comes from the high-quality natural underground water of Mt. Kurata. The storage cellar for stone bottles is located in the basin terrain. The summer is hot and the winter is extremely cold. The new sake distilled in 2017/18,
