🥃Bruichladdich Octomore 13.1 Edition Super Heavily Peated🥃

Octomore 13.1 Single Malt Whisky is patiently distilled from 100% Scottish Continental Barley harvested in 2015 to 137.3 PPM malt and matured in the highest quality American Oak casks.

After 5 years of aging in American oak casks prior to first bottling, our head distiller offers a unique twist in 13.1, collecting and re-barrelling the spirit in fresher American oak casks prior to first bottling in 2021 middle.

The initial impression is a sweet nutty smoke, full of barley sugar and ripe fruit.

Syrup apricots and ripe pears, with barley flour and crème brulee, honey and malty vanilla notes of pills.

American oak brings coconut, almond and charred oak. The peat smoke is subtle but powerful, along with charred oak, offering notes of boot polish, leather and earth.

The mouthfeel is viscous, with a dense smoky grain flavor, like smoked granola and honey fruit.

The second sip gives you the chance to decipher the complexities of the palate, with smoked apricot jam, barley flour, peaty embers and charred heather complemented by gooseberry citrus and sweet Turkish delight.

Oak chips, sugared almonds, and chocolate lime with spicy anise come to the finish. A drop of water enhances the smoke and brings out the minerality of the whisky.

On the finish, the sweetness fades and earthy moss remains amidst the dry heather peaty smoke.

Salty citrus and floral notes of geranium and rose calmly unfold, rounding off another beautiful expression of Octomore.
