Chateau Deyrem Valentin Margaux 2017
Chateau Deyrem Valentin is located in the Margaux region of Bordeaux, France, and was on the list of Cru Bourgeois released in 2012 by L'Alliance des Crus Bourgeois.
Jancis Robinson rated Chateau Deyrem Valentin as one of the most cost-effective Bordeaux wineries in the 2010 Bordeaux Selection Guide. Wine Advocate commented that this wine is the most classic style of Margaux.
Chateau Deyrem Valentin has a long history, dating back to 1730, and Deyrem Valentin is the surname of the first owner. After more than 200 years of ups and downs, it was bought by the Sorge family in 1928 and has been in operation until now.
In 1938, the Sorge family wanted to expand the scale of production, so they bought part of the land planted with old vines from their neighbor Chateau Palmer. Jean Sorge is currently the owner of the winery, and manages the winery with his two daughters, Sylvie and Christelle.
The vineyards of the winery are adjacent to the most famous "grands crus" in the Margaux appellation - Chateau Margaux. The Sorge family respects the terroir of the vineyard, combines traditional brewing techniques and new technologies, and strives to produce elegant and delicate wines.
The winery has nearly 100-year-old vines, one of the oldest vines in Bordeaux. And this Chateau Deyrem Valentin is the winery's authentic brand, which is brewed with petit verdot, an old vine over 70 years old.
It makes this wine unique. The winery adopts manual operations from field management to picking. After the introduction of new equipment in 2013, the winery grapes have reached the level of grain-by-grain selection. High-quality wines are not expensive.
It can be said to be one of the most cost-effective wineries in the Margaux appellation.
