Domaine Nicolas Rossignol Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2016

Nicolas Rossignol is one of the best examples of a new generation of Burgundy wine makers whose great wines lie in the future rather than the past entering the fray in 1994. Today Nicolas makes wine from his own 11 acre estate as well as from his fatherss vineyards.

The wines of the Nicolas Rossignol estate are produced using carefully sorted grapes from vineyards grown using traditional winemaking techniques inspired by biodynamics.

The vineyard is managed using reasoned viticulture methods, taking account of the lunar influence, both during cultivation and the production & elevage of the wine. No chemical herbicides are used: soil maintenance is ensured through light ploughing.

Geography : Blend of different plots from the plain of Volnay and Pommard.

Soil and environment : Poor soil with good draining capacity.

The vine : 20 to 50 year-old vines.

The wine : Soft and fruity. Doesn’t require a lot of aging, except for specific vintages. Silky tannins due to its origin.

"The 2016 Bourgogne Pinot Noir consists of just 29-hectoliters that could not even fill a single vat. It offers juicy red cherry and blood orange scents on the playful nose. The palate is nicely balanced with a pleasing fatness, although it needs just a little more flesh on the finish that I am sure will come though once in bottle."
