Murray McDavid Crafted Blend Coinnich II 1996 21 Years Old #2

Once again, we present our devilishly good Coinnich Il (pronounced koi-neesh; meaning 'assembly' or 'a coming together). This is a blend of eight single malts and one single grain whisky, with a rare malt balance of 40%. Brought together in their youth, Speyside malts have been introduced to malts distilled at Laphroaig and Highland Park, which we have blended with grain whisky from Loch Lomond.

Nose: fruity caramel, apples, coastal

Palate: rich & oily, fruity, touch of peat finish gentle, sweet smoke

celebrates traditional blended Scotch whisky, by harmonising skilfully-matured single malt and single grain whiskies together - it's no surprise to us that blended Scotch is the world's most popular whisky by far.

Story

It is a happy accident of history that back in the 18th Century it was discovered that scotch whisky was greatly improved when stored in oak barrels which had previously held wine and sherry . Today Murray McDavid continues to honour this long established tradition by matyring its whisky in avariety of casks that have been used to produce other fine spirits and wines .

We source sherry casks from the bodegas of spain, fortified wine casks from Maderia, port pipes from Portugal and a wide selection of wine barriques from Europe's finest vineyards. We also seek out barrels from the rum distilleries of the Caribbean and the bourbon makers of the United States. All of our casks are used to give Murray McDavid's whisky its unique qualities and diverse styles allowing us to offer a comprehensive range of inspired scotch whisky.
