Description
Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 2022
Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 2022 comes from France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, and is one of the domaine’s benchmark village white wines, known for its rounded, creamy texture, concentrated fruit and clear minerality. The village cuvée mainly comes from vines aged around 55–60 years; the 2022 vintage is widely regarded as combining ripe fruit with lively acidity, and this wine shows pear, apple, white flowers, light citrus and hazelnut cream in a medium-bodied, finely lined frame.
Vinification & Style
Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet is produced under the AOC Puligny-Montrachet, from 100% Chardonnay. The Pernot family has managed the domaine since 1955; Paul Pernot and his three sons now run the estate, selling around 60% of their production to négociants while keeping the best lots for domaine bottlings. The 2022 village wine is mainly from vines around 55–60 years old, matured in stainless steel with French oak (including a proportion of new barrels), preserving fresh fruit and minerality while adding subtle creaminess, nutty notes and a gentle oak influence, reflecting Puligny’s characteristic precision and elegance.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale lemon with a light green tint, bright and clear, reflecting a ripe yet fresh 2022 style.
Nose: Pear, green apple, white flowers (chamomile, honeysuckle), a hint of lime zest and white peach, with soft butter, toasted hazelnut and powdery mineral notes; initially restrained but opening beautifully with air.
Palate: Medium-bodied, with pear, apple, white peach and a touch of lemon upfront, followed by cream, almond, hazelnut and subtle white pepper; the acidity is fresh without being sharp, minerality draws the palate out, the texture is smooth without being heavy, and it balances Puligny’s structural precision with the ripe fruit weight of 2022.
Finish: Medium to long, with lingering white flowers, citrus peel, almond and saline mineral notes, finishing clean and precise with a gentle creamy touch.
