Description
🇯🇵Suntory Royal 15 Year Old 90's🥃
Suntory 15 Years is a relatively old and rare Japanese blend, first released in the late 1990s, following a line of Royal Blends in the 1960s to commemorate the company's 60th anniversary.
Often difficult to find except at auction, this reportedly includes whiskys from Hibiki, Yamazaki and Hakushu. Stunning presentation.
Aroma: Licorice covered oak, lemon and banana. Some macadamia nut flavor and wood stain. Sweet and creamy, mainly bran and soft grains of wheat. After about 10 minutes, the apricots appeared.
Palate: Very creamy, but with a hint of lemon bitterness. Macadamia nuts, licorice, banana, nutmeg and golden syrup. Smooth! Finish: Smooth, soft grains, creamy nuts, licorice, lemon and some saltiness on the tongue.
This whisky has "blend" up its sleeve, with the grain definitely dominating. If you're looking for a malt blend, this probably isn't for you. But if you like a smooth bourbon style, get in line.
Part of the charm of aged Cognac is its age, therefore the condition of the labels and bottles will not be perfect and may vary from one bottle to another. Most old wines use corks. This semi-permeable cork wood is flexible, but after decades of contact with wine it becomes brittle and easily breaks. It can be slowly turned out using an "Ah So" bottle opener.
