Azienda Agricola Sciara Centenario 2022
Azienda Agricola Sciara was founded by Hong Kong winemaker Stef Yim on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. He is the first Hong Kong native to own vineyards and a winery in Europe. Located near Randazzo, the estate comprises nine vineyards ranging in altitude from 630 meters to Europe’s highest at 1,520 meters. The soils are volcanic and rich in minerals.
The word “Centenario” means “a person who has lived for more than 100 years.” The wine is named as such to honor the century-old vines from which it is made. These precious old vines are mainly located in the Feudo di Mezzo cru and fully express the volcanic soil’s depth and potential. All vineyard works are done manually and naturally—no irrigation, chemical fertilization, or pesticide treatments are applied. Due to the limited arable land on Mount Etna, the production is extremely small yet highly qualitative.
