Description
BORGOGNO Giacomo Barolo DOCG Riserva 2014

The 2014 vintage was one of the most complex in the recent years, but thanks to a favorable end of the season, the grape harvested were characterized by good ripeness with great phenolic richness. At the beginning of the winter, temperatures were mild, and Spring started gradually, but slightly earlier. This resulted in a vegetative restart of the vine earlier than the previous year. At the beginning of summer, temperatures were entirely in the norm, but with heavy rainfall, which required great attention in the operations in the vineyard. In September and October, however, a good temperature range led to the right ripening of the grapes. In conclusion, it can be confirmed that the last part of the season, which was very positive, was fundamental for the health of the grapes, giving us interesting surprises.
After the harvest into Fossati, Cannubi and Liste Vineyard, with careful selection of the best grapes, in the cellar the grapes are destemmed and pressed. This is followed by a spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, with temperatures between 22°C and 28°c for about 18 days. Then there is submerged cap maceration (lasting more than 40 days), during wich malo-lactic fermentation took place. As temperature rise in Spring, the wine is racked into large Slavonian oak barrels where it will age for 6 years. This is followed by a passage in concrete tanks before being bottled.
Our Barolo Riserva comes from the selection of the best grapes in the vineyard in our three M.G.A. and this allows us to have different balances that come together, and therefore the result is a balanced and complete wine. We were thus able to create a great Barolo Riserva ready to challenge the vintage.

Tasting Notes :
Ruby red colour with garnet hightlights. Red fruits and spiciness scents to the nose and good body to the palate. A wine characterized by great drinkability even immediately, thanks to a persistent acidity that gives great freshness.

Perfect Pairing:
Barolo goes well with important dishes, such as traditional Piedmontese meat main courses. Ranging from world traditions, going to The United States of America there is beef (angus, wagyu, bue nostral, longhorn) in Baltimora pit beef cut. Moving to Brasil instead picanha. One recipe is, for example, coffee or chocolate picanha. After a few years of aging in the bottle it is perfect as a sipping wine, in combination with a piece of good dark chocolate. But if you have the pleasure, even a simple “special” toast is perfect!
