Chateau Figeac is a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate located in the Saint-Émilion appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. The estate covers about 40 hectares with vines averaging 35-40 years old and a high planting density of 6,000 vines per hectare. The vineyard’s gravelly soils provide excellent drainage and heat reflection, promoting complex and elegant wines. The 2012 vintage marked a turning point with the arrival of renowned consultant Michel Rolland and the introduction of optical sorting technology to ensure rigorous grape selection and quality.
This blend emphasizes Cabernet Sauvignon more than previous vintages, giving the wine a firmer structure and a style closer to Left Bank Bordeaux, with strong aging potential.
Winemaking
Grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed, then fermented separately by parcel in large wooden vats or stainless steel tanks using wild yeasts for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for approximately 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels, enhancing structure and aromatic complexity. Chateau Figeac was one of the first Right Bank estates to adopt temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation and 100% new oak barrel aging.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep purple color with complex aromas of blackberry, raspberry, cedar, smoke, spice box, graphite, and licorice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fine, slightly powdery tannins and bright acidity. The structure is balanced and elegant, with a long finish. With age, it develops a velvety texture and complex notes of forest floor, leather, and cigar box.

Highly praised by Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast
Drinking Window
Best enjoyed from 2018 onwards, with an optimal drinking window from 2022 to 2040. The wine will evolve to become more rounded and complex with age.
