Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz 2017 is the commercial flagship Shiraz from Clonakilla Winery in Australia. Sourced from multiple vineyards in the New South Wales Hilltops region, it showcases the elegant spiciness and dark fruit depth characteristic of the Cool Climate Highland style.

Produced in the Hilltops region (altitude 500-600m), this 100% Shiraz wine benefits from the cool 2017 vintage, resulting in rich dark fruit and spice notes. It was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new oak), with an alcohol content of approximately 14%. Bottled at screw cap, it has aging potential until 2027+.

Flavor Characteristics:

Aroma: Black pepper, perfume-like floral notes, and vibrant dark berries, with layers of five-spice and violet, full of vitality.

Palmistry: Full-bodied yet agile, with interwoven blackberry, cocoa nibs, and spices. Silky ripe tannins, excellent balance, and a touch of exotic sweetness.

Finish: Long and juicy, with notes of blackcurrant, spice, and light smoke, elegant and persistent. Serving Recommendations: Decant for 1 hour, serve at 14°C in a large-bellied glass; best paired with roasted red meat, game, or spiced stews. Enjoy immediately. A classic entry-level Clonakilla from the Hilltops region.
