Description
The Clos des Marcs d'Or is set out on a terrace. Two places coexist: “Les Marcs d’Or” and “haut des Marcs d’Or”.
The Burgundy Clos des Marcs d'Or appellation of controlled origin has become the clos of the City of Dijon, the AOC Côte Dijonnaise having fallen into the oblivion of History. The town has entrusted the lease to Domaine Derey since 1981. Entered the category of “old vines” since 2011, Le Clos des Marcs d’Or
is part of the Climats de Bourgogne, candidates for UNESCO world heritage.
Tasting: With a light lemon color, it is a white wine of great finesse, very mineral. The nose reveals floral notes. The tasting offers a fruity taste of white peach, subtly sweet.
This wine can be served quite quickly after bottling, but it can easily withstand several years of cellaring.
History:
The Clos des Marcs d’Or is emblematic. Historically owned by the Dukes of Burgundy and the King of France, it is now the oldest and most important estate in Dijon. To the west of the regional capital, it almost disappeared completely, under the successive blows of the dreaded phylloxera, then of the galloping urbanization, in the sixties, during the development of the Fontaine d'Ouche district.
Finally replanted in 1981 by the City of Dijon, on 42 acres of Chardonnay (the grape variety that made the reputation of Burgundian whites), this vineyard is one of the last witnesses of Dijon's wine-growing past, whose vines then enclosed the old ramparts . Its surface area is now about 15 Ares.
The Clos des Marcs d'Or is set up as a terrace. Two places coexist: "Les Marcs d'Or" and the "dessus des Marcs d'Or". The Bourgogne Clos des Marcs d'Or registered designation of origin has become the exclusive domain of the City of Dijon, with the AOC Côte Dijonnaise having fallen into oblivion in history.
The city has entrusted the tenant farming to Domaine Derey since 1981. In the category of "old vines" since 2011, Le Clos des Marcs d'Or is part of the Climats de Bourgogne, candidates for UNESCO's World Heritage List.
