🥃Macallan 28 Year Old Single Malts of Scotland Director's Special🥃

Originally known as Specialty Drinks, Elixir Distillers was established in 1999 as the independent bottling division of The Whisky Exchange, launching an online retail site that same year. Their first bottling was under the Scotch Single Malt brand in 2005, followed by Islay Elements in 2006 and Port Askeg Single Malt in 2009. The company changed its name to Elixir Distillers in 2017.

Director's Special is a premium sub-category within the brand of Scotch single malt whisky.

This Macallan whisky has been aged for 28 years in a sherry cask. One of 215 bottles produced for the Whisky Exchange.

It may be hard to imagine today, but for much of the 20th century, Macallan was primarily a blend of malts. It wasn't until the market downturn in the 1980s that the distillery decided to focus on its single malt brand. Fortunately, this coincided with a boom in the high-quality releases that distilleries licensed to Campbell, Hope & King and Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. These are still some of the most collectible on the market. While global single malt sales are still led by Speyside's neighbours, Glenfiddich and Glenlivet, The Macallan is undoubtedly the most sought after. In fact, they had to open a brand new distillery in 2018, a subterranean architectural masterpiece with 36 copper pot stills within Easter Elkis Estate.
