Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Chardonnay 2024 is a high-altitude, cool-temperament single-vineyard Chardonnay from Australia's Yarra Valley.

It features a compact, mineral, and high-acid profile, rather than a heavy, buttery style.

Winery and Vineyard Background

Giant Steps is a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir specialist in the Yarra Valley, and has recently been named "Winery of the Year" by leading Australian wine critics. Their single-vineyard series is their flagship product.

Applejack Vineyard is located in Upper Yarra, at an altitude of nearly 300 meters, adjacent to dense, cool forests. The climate is cooler than that of the winery's other flagship wine, Sexton Vineyard, resulting in Chardonnays with greater acidity and a tighter structure.

The vineyard primarily consists of volcanic weathered clay loam, but Applejack's grey/brown clay loam naturally controls vine yield, resulting in small, concentrated berries, ideal for high-quality Chardonnay.
