Kay Brothers Amery Vineyards Cuthbert Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is the flagship Cabernet from the historic McLaren Vale winery, Kay Brothers.

Its high score of RP94 affirms its depth and balance, a quintessential example of old-vine Cabernet from McLaren Vale.

Basic Information:

Region and Grapes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Amery Vineyards, McLaren Vale, South Australia. The century-old vines and sandy loam soil contribute to its rich fruit aromas and structure.

Vineyard Composition: Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (hogsheads and barriques), 13.8% ABV, screw-cap bottled, medium-to-full body, aging potential up to 2030+.

Flavor Characteristics:

Aromas: Classic openings of mint and blackcurrant, accompanied by spicy plum, blackberry, and light oak. The cool vintage provides purity and depth. Palate: Medium-bodied yet generously juicy, with silky, fine tannins enveloping dark fruit pulp, vanilla cream, and a hint of chocolate. The gentle oak influence enhances the fruit flavors, resulting in excellent balance.

Finish: Appealingly juicy, with creamy vanilla and lingering fruit sweetness, finishing elegantly.

Serving Suggestions: Decant for 1 hour, serve at 14–16°C in a Bordeaux glass; pairs well with grilled steak, lamb leg, or game, utilizing the tannins and juices to elevate the wine's complexity.
