La Spinetta Barbaresco Valeirano DOCG 2009 comes from the Valeirano vineyard near Neive in the celebrated Piedmont region of Italy. The wine is crafted with an emphasis on expressing the unique terroir of Nebbiolo grapes grown in this area. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, predominantly old vines, cultivated in soils rich in calcareous marl and sandstone, imparting distinctive minerality and bright acidity. Thanks to the region’s microclimate and moderate altitude, the grapes achieve balanced ripening and develop intricate aromatic layers.
Winemaking and Style
The fermenting process takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about two weeks, followed by aging in French oak barrels for approximately two years, with a portion of the barrels being new oak. This method enhances the wine’s structure and complexity while preserving the purity of Nebbiolo. Further bottle aging allows full integration of aromas and flavors. Overall, the wine presents a balanced style of power and elegance, with a full and persistent palate.
