Located on the north coast of Islay, the 190-year-old Laphroaig Distillery has created the most original Islay-style whisky because it receives the strongest sea breeze on the island, coupled with the traditional steaming process.
Laphroaig Distillery is the first whisky distillery run by a woman in Scotland.
After the death of the owner of the winery, Ian Hunter, in 1954, his wife Bessie took over the Lafogue winery and insisted on the winemaking tradition until her retirement in 1972. Currently, the winery still continues the traditional floor germination work, of which 1/4 of the malt is produced by itself, 3 The /4 malt uses Poet Ellen malt.
The water source of the winery is taken from Kilbride Dam, which flows through the thick peat layer and crosses the quartzite layer, producing soft water rich in peaty flavor, which makes the wine taste delicate and diverse.
A single malt whisky created by distillery manager John Campbell in honor of the master craftsmen who have shaped Laphroaig over the past two centuries.
The single malt first remains in first-fill, over-charred ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to large new European oak casks never used by Laphroaig to this day.
1815 combines notes of peat smoke, roasted fruit and oily wood.
Cinnamon and savory notes of apricot and jam combine with rich peat.
On the palate, aromas of caramel and brown sugar are combined with raisins.
The finish has a strong peaty aroma.
