Description
Maison Marchand Tawse Pommard Les Saussilles 2021

The vintage's long daylight hours allowed the stems to be so ripe that 50% of the entire bunches in the wine were fermented, while the cool August nights maintained good acidity during the final stages of ripening. The maceration period lasted 18 days and started with a reduction in the solids content of the must, followed by a slight over-pumping. The wine can be kept for 18 months. Brewed from 20% new, lightly toasted oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The land of Les Saussilles is located in the northwest corner of Pommard and is completely open to Beaune. "Les Bas de Saussilles", where the wine is produced, village part, about 1 minute above the 1.cru part. 300 meters above sea level. This was not considered an advantage when the appellation was created, but in today's temperatures it is often an advantage as fresh oxygen is better preserved on cooler nights. The land faces southeast on the outermost, northern slope of the Dheune River and has well-drained clay-calcareous soils.

History
Pascal. The soul of Marchand-Tawse. Pascal Marchand came to the beautiful Burgundy region in 1983 to participate in the harvesting work, which changed his life and resolutely gave up his original job as a poet.
However, his artist DNA has always been with him, so he boldly adopted many advanced concepts. For example, after working at Domaine Comte Armand in 1987, he implemented natural dynamic methods to manage vineyards in 1988, leading the way. Many well-known wineries, even older than Domaine Leroy.
After a brief stay at Domaine de la Vougeraie, he decided to pursue a bigger dream in 2006 and started his own wine merchant business (Marchand-Tawse).
In 2010, he entered into a joint venture with Moray Tawse, an old acquaintance of the Canadian tycoon, and successively purchased some Grand Cru and First Class vineyards. Finally, in 2012, Domaine Maume was purchased, and Chateau Tushi was born.
