Adrien Renoir Winery Introduction

Adrien Renoir is a smallholder Champagne winery located in the Montagne de Reims mountainous region of Champagne, within the Verzy Grand Cru vineyard. Since 2016, Adrien Renoir has led the winery, focusing on low-intervention winemaking methods, emphasizing organic farming, terroir characteristics, and the expression of grape varieties rarely seen in the Champagne region.

Le Cépage Verzy Grand Cru Extra Brut

Le Cépage is Blanc de Noirs, 100% Pinot Noir, with grapes sourced from old vine plots in the Verzy Grand Cru vineyard. The clay-limestone soils and chalky base of Verzy contribute ripe fruit flavors, structure, and minerality to the Pinot Noir. The winery ferments in oak barrels and matures the wine on its lees, bottling in low dosage to preserve the grape and terroir characteristics.

Aromas include red berries, pear, strawberry, rhubarb, baked apple, and white flowers, with hints of baked bread, almonds, and citrus peel. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with Pinot Noir delivering rich fruit flavors and a rounded texture. Vibrant acidity, chalky minerality, and a savory finish keep the wine crisp and prevent it from feeling heavy. Overall, it's an Extra Brut with a wine-like character, ripe fruit flavors, and a dry finish.

Note that "Le Cépage" has different base wine vintages and disgorgement batches, which will result in variations in flavor details and dosage. Different batch information is available on the market; for example, a 2022 base wine version may indicate a dosage of 1.6 g/L. Therefore, if your bottle has a vintage or disgorgement batch label, it's best to check the information for that specific batch.
