🇯🇵Akkeshi 厚岸芒種 BOSHU Single Malt Japanese Whisky Peated 2021🥃

The Japanese Akkeshi Distillery, which was completed and put into operation in 2016, is a very young whisky distillery. Its founder, Keiichi Toita, is also the owner of Kenten Co. Ltd., a food importer in Tokyo.

Toita is a veteran Islay peat whisky fan. In recent years, he found that high-quality Islay whisky has become increasingly difficult to find in Japan, so he decided to open his own peat whisky distillery.

In April 2021, Akkean Distillery released the 24 solar terms series "Cold Dew, Rain" and the third part "Earth Grass". It is a Japanese single malt. The original liquor used is distilled and matured in Akkeshi Distillery, and the liquor is all older than three years.

"Earth seed" is the season when rice and wheat ear and bear fruit, and the crops with awns begin to mature. Fireflies come with the rich sweetness of Akkeshi malt, and enjoy a moment of early summer while listening to the tide of Akkeshi Bay.

The packaging is based on dark green, with firefly lights painted on the wine label. In eastern Hokkaido, Kushiro including Akkeshi is a wetland, so the "Heike fireflies" inhabit it and can be seen from June to August.

Milk chocolate, dried fruit, nuts and sweetness with campfire and peat smoke, with strawberry, orange, apple, grainy notes, citric and milky sweetness, salty seawater and cocoa bitterness. Until the end, the spiciness like white pepper and the sweetness of chocolate are still continuous.
