🇯🇵Akkeshi 厚岸小寒 Shokan Single Malt Japanese Whisky 2025🥃

Atsushi "Shokan" Single Malt Japanese Whisky is the twenty-first in the Atsushi Twenty-Four Solar Terms series, a new release for winter 2025. It features a rich winter fruit aroma paired with a quiet, smoky peat character.

Series: One of the Atsushi "Twenty-Four Solar Terms" series. Minor Cold (小寒) is one of the winter solar terms, symbolizing the approaching cold.

Aroma: Poached pear, persimmon mascarpone, orange marmalade toast, vanilla wafer.

Palmistry: The refreshing acidity of mandarin orange jelly and salted lemon complements the rich sweetness of brown sugar yokan and dried persimmon, resulting in a full and smooth palate.

Finish: Pepper crackers, ginger syrup, lemon zest, and dark chocolate slowly culminate in a quiet and delicate peaty smokiness, quite long and layered.

Houkishi has always envisioned a "Hokkaido version of Islay," using Scottish Forsyths stills, peat-filtered water, and aging in a cool, humid climate with sea breezes, resulting in a spirit that combines Japanese delicacy with the smoky character of Islay.

The Xiaohan whisky continues with a light to medium peat level, but focuses on the sweetness of winter sweets and traditional Japanese fruits: pear, persimmon, mandarin orange, brown sugar yokan (sweet bean jelly), and dried persimmon, finished with ginger, pepper, and dark chocolate. It's warming and evokes a wintery atmosphere, making it perfect for slow enjoyment in autumn and winter.
