🇯🇵Akkeshi 厚岸 立夏 Rikka Single Malt Japanese Whisky Peated 2025🥃


The Japanese Akkeshi Distillery, which was completed and put into operation in 2016, is a very young whisky distillery. Its founder, Keiichi Toita, is also the owner of Kenten Co. Ltd., a food importer in Tokyo. Toita is a veteran Islay peat whisky fan. In recent years, he found that high-quality Islay whisky has become increasingly difficult to find in Japan, so he decided to open his own peat whisky distillery.

OThe clear blue skies of early summer are a season when the iris flowers on the shores of lake Akkeshi are particularly striking.The peatiness unique to Akkeshi malt has developed a Japanese citrus aroma with age.The key malt for this release is made from Hokkaido-grown malt and mizunara barrels.

Aroma: Seasonal peaches, apricots, mandarin oranges, and kinako mochi topped with black honey
Taste: Chocolate and orange confit
Aftertaste: Black pepper, Hyuganatsu(日向夏), and a stroll along the beach
