🇯🇵 Akkeshi Risshu Single Malt Japanese Whiskey 2025 🥃


Akkeshi began distilling in the Akkeshi district of Hokkaido in 2016, and the concept of distilling and maturing single malt whiskey in Japan’s northern wilderness dates back to the first plans of Masataka Taketsuru, an early Japanese whiskey production pioneer.

The 20th of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms, "The Beginning of Autumn" Risshu means the thin moon that quietly bids farewell to the passing summer, reflecting on the water of Lake Akkeshi and the night when the Perseus meteor shower falls. "The Beginning of Autumn" symbolizes the beginning of autumn, but still carries the residual heat of summer. The design style creates a "short and beautiful" artistic conception, such as the incense and fireworks depicted on the label.

Aroma: peach and apricot preserves, panna cotta with vanilla, black honey, dried persimmon, soft smoke like a campfire.
Taste: A light sour taste like lemon cake, diced macarons, and ramen snacks.
Finish: Coarsely ground black pepper, delicious spiciness like ginger soy sauce, mild lemon candy sweetness.
