Description
Alto Moncayo Veraton 2018 (JS92)
Alto Moncayo Veraton is a rich, modern-style Garnacha from Campo de Borja in Aragon, Spain, made from 30–50-year-old bush vines. The 2018 vintage delivers dense black fruits, sweet spice, chocolate and balsamic notes wrapped in a warm, full-bodied palate with chewy yet velvety tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
Winemaking & Style
Sourced from 30–50-year-old Garnacha vines planted at 550–850 metres, giving ripe fruit concentration and good freshness.
Hand-harvested with low yields to enhance flavour intensity, fermented using temperature-controlled traditional red winemaking.
Aged for around 16 months in a mix of French and American oak (mostly new with some second-fill), building layers of vanilla, coconut, cocoa and toasty spice while polishing the tannins.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep red-black core with a bright scarlet rim.
Aroma: Dark cherries, plums, blackcurrant, licorice, molasses, dark chocolate, cedar, cinnamon and a touch of cigar box.
Palate: Full-bodied, rich and ripe, packed with black fruits and raisined notes; solid, chewy tannins balanced by moderate acidity, with flavours of chocolate, sweet spice and balsamic warmth carrying into a very long, plush finish.
