Amour de Deutz Blanc de Blancs Millésime 2016 (Gift Box) (375ml)
Amour de Deutz Blanc de Blancs Millésime 2016 is the prestige cuvée of Champagne Deutz, a historic house in Aÿ founded in 1838. The 2016 vintage is a 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs sourced from Grand Cru terroirs on the Côte des Blancs, including Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant, Chouilly and Villers-Marmery.
Vinification & Style
The wine is made from first-press juice, vinified separately in stainless steel with complete malolactic fermentation and no oak. After blending from multiple trials, it spent close to ten years ageing in Deutz’s chalk cellars before disgorgement. Dosage is around 6.5 g/L, classifying it as Brut. The style is delicate, elegant and precise, with a pale gold colour, very fine bead and a long, saline finish.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale gold with bronze highlights and very fine, persistent bubbles.
Nose: Delicate and elegant, with citrus, pear pie, white flowers, brioche, honey and subtle mineral notes.
Palate: Fresh and lively, showing more peach and lemon curd than flowers and minerals at this stage. The palate is clean and vertical, driven by cutting acidity and fine bubbles.
Finish: Long and focused, with citrus, brioche, honey and a salty, mineral edge.
Professional Reviews
Tastingbook aggregates professional and user ratings to give the 2016 Amour de Deutz 93 points, ranking it among the top Champagnes from Deutz. Richard Juhlin awarded it 90 points, describing it as vintage-typical and elegant, with citrus features accompanied by aromas of fine pear pie, and noting that it will settle comfortably into both house style and category over time. Specialist writers describe it as a Blanc de Blancs of staggering purity and precision.
Serving & Pairing
Decanting: No decanting required; open 10–15 minutes before serving.
Serving temperature: 9–11°C.
Food pairing: Oysters, raw bar, scallops, clams, sea bass, turbot, sushi, sashimi, delicate fish dishes, roast chicken, soft cheeses such as Brie or Chaource, and light appetizers.
Drinking Window
Enjoy from now through approximately 2035–2040. With bottle age, the wine should develop more honey, dried fruit, brioche and nutty complexity while retaining freshness and minerality.
