Ardbeg Scorch Committee Release is a limited-edition Islay single malt released by Ardbeg for Ardbeg Day 2021, exclusively for Committee members. It features a "heavy charcoal grill + explosive peat smoke" style, with a bottling strength of 51.7% (naturally high strength, unfiltered).

Alcohol Content: 51.7% ABV (Committee version, high strength)

Cask: Extremely heavily charred ex-bourbon casks, officially stated to contain some notes from the previously famous "Alligator" style heavy charcoal casks.

Flavor and Style Highlights: Official descriptions and multiple retail/review descriptions are largely consistent, summarizing it as "extremely heavily charred + herbal smoke + licorice spice":

Aroma (Nose): Nutty and spicy, with hints of aniseed, star anise, and patchouli.

Distinct notes of coal ash, oily smoke, barbecue, and herbal smoke, with subtle hints of pine needles, herbs, and resin.

Palate: Oily and full-bodied, with an initial burst of antiseptic lozenges, tar, licorice, cloves, and black pepper – intensely spicy.

This is followed by a sweet smoke: like burning briar/sandalwood, fragrant wood smoke, accompanied by the salty aroma of roasted meat and fat.

Finish: Very long and dry, with lingering tar, soot, and smoky notes, followed by hints of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and spices.
