🥃Balvenie 12 Years old Double Wood🥃

Launched in 1993, DoubleWood 12 uses a process devised by our Master Malt David Stewart in 1982 and is now commonly known as 'Wood Finishing'. To create The Balvenie double casks, David Stewart MBE moves whisky aged at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American oak ex-bourbon casks and casks to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for a further nine months . The whisky is then transferred into large oak containers called "tuns" for 3-4 months, allowing the whisky from the individual casks to "marry".

Balvenie DoubleWood Single Malt Whisky is matured in two different wood types to obtain its unique character. Each stage imparts a different quality to the final single malt whisky. Traditional oak softens and adds fine character, sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavour, and the final months in our casks allow the whisky to harmoniously unite.

Aged for 12 years in refill American oak barrels before finishing in first fill European oak Oloroso sherry casks.

Aroma of honey, subtle spice and nutty notes. Sweet palate of oaky vanilla, subtle baking spices, nuts and dried fruit.
