Boris Champy Hautes Cotes de Beaune Rouge Altitude 399 2020

Hautes-Côtes de Beaune "Altitude 399" is a red wine from Burgundy, France, showcasing the unique charm of the region's high-altitude terroir. Helmed by Boris Champy, former technical director of the prestigious Grand Cru Clos des Lambrays, known as the "iron fist in a velvet glove," the wine is cultivated and vinified using biodynamic and organic farming methods, committed to showcasing the potential of the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune region.

This wine is primarily sourced from two parcels in the village of Nantoux: En Bignon and Le Clou. The soils consist of clay, hard limestone, white limestone, and yellow marl, imparting a rich minerality and structure to the wine. The grapes are hand-harvested and vinified using gentle extraction, some whole-bunch fermentation, and barrel fermentation. The wine then matures for approximately 12 months in oak barrels, 15% of which are new, to preserve the fruit aromas and enhance its structure.
