Bowmore Tempest 10 Year Old Batch 4 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Cast adrift off the west coast of Scotland, the remote, rugged island of Islay is one of the most elemental places on earth. Rich peat, which fires the island's crackling malt kilns, blustering gales and crashing waves all compete to quicken the pulse and sharpen the senses.
In the heart of this furore, at the very eye of the storm, lies Islay's first distillery. Bowmore has been making its celebrated Single Malt here come rain, shine and very high water ever since 1779.
Now as then, Bowmore is widely acknowledged to be among the finest and most perfectly balanced whiskies in the world, despite or maybe because of these conflicting natural forces.

Matured in the finest first fill bourbon barrels, which over time help to bring out Bowmore's trademark peaty smokiness, this non chill-filtered, small batch release from 2012 is a formidable tour de force worthy of the Tempest name.
On the eye deep gold,Breathe in menthol and sweet coconut fused with toasted vanilla and an ocean breeze. As the liquid ebbs and flows, ripe oranges and kumquat burst from the glass with cedar wood. A splash of water releases tangy seaweed tempered by sweet vanilla ice cream and sugared almonds Sip bursts of tangy ripe clementines, lemon sherbet and grapefruit.
Deeper layers of peppery peat, pistachio and pine nuts are carried by a wave of smooth vanilla Savour rippling layers of citrus, bourbon vanilla spice and wispy smoke.  

A true product of its environment, Bowmore Tempest is as wild, raw and untamed as they come. You can taste Islay's dark peat, bracing sea air and salt spray in every intense mouthful.
