🥃Bruichladdich Octomore 13.3 Edition Islay Barley Super Heavily Peated🥃

Octomore 13.3 uses a single farm barley grown on Islay.

This release is made in first-fill ex-American whisky casks from the Rivesaltes region of France and second-fill European oak casks from Ribera, Spain.

European oak gives the spirit a more subtle structure, while American oak allows the spirit to take center stage.

Aromas of malt sugar and soft peaty smoke draw you into the drink. Layers of fresh green fruit follow, followed by rose, geranium, apricot and eucalyptus.

Marzipan, ginger biscuits and honeydew melon also come through, and the malty fruity character comes to the fore after a while. Adding a drop of water gives a nice peat smoke.

The palate is soft and fine, with sweet honey and brown sugar giving way to whispers of peat smoke. The second sip brings lemon zest and shells, subtle ocean notes, and notes of malted biscuit, marzipan and coconut.

The peat smoke has a hint of ash, but is mild enough to let the subtle floral malt notes shine through.

Long finish with marine character, increased smokiness on the palate, honey and lemon with warm sand and marzipan.

Fruity notes of peaches and stewed pears at the end bring a touch of sweetness to the finish.
