Winery Background

By Farr, located in the Geelong/Moorabool Valley of Victoria, is one of Australia's most respected family wineries, renowned for its cool-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Shiraz. Founded by Gary Farr and now managed by his son Nick Farr, the winery emphasizes low yields, hand-harvesting, natural yeasts, and the use of fine French oak barrels, pursuing a style that emphasizes balance, texture, and terroir expression.

Tasting Notes: The aromas are deep and cool, with notes of red plum, red cherry, black cherry, blueberry, red licorice, and blackberry, interwoven with violet, black pepper, clove, dried herbs, smoked meat, roasted earth, graphite, and minerality.

The palate is concentrated yet not heavy, with sweet and pure red and black fruit flavors; the heart reveals smoked meat, pepper, spices, earth, and a touch of vanilla and cedar. The tannins are fine, with a powdery and velvety texture, and the acidity is bright, giving the wine a long and dynamic body; the finish is very long, with Campari-like notes of herbs, black pepper, dried spices and minerals.
