Description
Château La Tour Carnet Winery Introduction

Château La Tour Carnet is located in Haut-Médoc on the left bank of Bordeaux, France, and is a 4th Growth (Grand Cru Classé) in the 1855 classification.
The winery has a long history, with some of its castle buildings dating back to the 11th century. It is currently owned by Bernard Magrez and is known f
or its style characterized by black fruit, spices, graphite, and fine tannins.

2011 Vintage Description

The 2011 La Tour Carnet is a blend of 57% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, aged in approximately 30% new oak barrels. The wine is a deep garnet red in color, with aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, spices, toasted herbs, star anise, and smoky oak.

On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is concentrated with sweet, ripe fruit flavors, good acidity, and smooth, mature tannins. The mid-palate reveals layers of black fruit, plum jam, spices, and charred oak, while the finish offers graphite, minerality, and a savory character. Robert Parker praised it as the "sleeper of the vintage" of the 2011 vintage, noting its excellent concentration, sweet, ripe tannins, and long finish, estimating it could age for over 15 years.

While the 2011 vintage is generally leaner, this wine, with its higher Merlot content, is relatively full-bodied and easy to drink, while retaining the structure and minerality of Haut-Médoc. It is ready to drink now, and will be even better after decanting; with proper storage, it still has medium to long-term aging potential.
