Chateau La Tour Carnet 2018 (RP92)

Chateau La Tourcany

One of the oldest wine estates in the Médoc (it dates back to the 12th century). The estate is named for its tower, built in 1120 and surrounded by a moat. In 1407, the estate began to plant vines. Owned by Bernard Magrez, this 1855 classification belongs to the elite wine estates of the Haut-Médoc.

The Château La Tour Carnet vineyard covers 176 hectares of vines in the town of Saint-Laurent-Médoc. The vines are planted at high densities (8 to 10,000 feet per hectare) with an average age of 32 years on Gonzan gravel soils dominated by calcareous clay.

The winemaking process starts with sorting in the vineyard, then manual sorting on a shaker table, followed by destemming and density sorting. Use a cryogenic tunnel (by spraying liquid nitrogen) to cool the fruit. Gravity dip tank. Brewed in wooden barrels and small cement vats. Cold pre-fermentation maceration (8°C). Fully manual punching. Alcoholic fermentation at low temperature (28°C). Dipping for 25 to 32 days. Aged for 16 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new oak barrels.

Mouthfeel: rich fruity, full-bodied and smooth, with a long aftertaste.
