Description
Château Montrose 2012 is a classic second-growth vintage from Saint-Estèphe, highly rated by RP with 94 points.

This wine is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, with an alcohol content of approximately 14% and a pH of 3.7. It underwent a long maceration period (26-28 days) and aging in 60% new oak barrels, showcasing the power and aging potential of Saint-Estèphe.

The wine is a deep purplish-red color, with aromas of blackcurrant, white chocolate, crushed stone, forest floor, and cigar box notes. The palate is full-bodied with tight but mature tannins, offering cassis, blackberry, raspberry, and a mineral finish. It still needs time to soften and is expected to be best enjoyed between 2022 and 2048.

The 2012 vintage was considered an excellent one on the left bank of Bordeaux. Montrose performed exceptionally well, with rich fruit flavors and a robust structure, surpassing the level of typical vintages. Vinous, WS, and JS all awarded it 93-95 points.
