Domaine A.-F. Gros Winery Introduction

Domaine A.-F. Gros, short for Domaine Anne-Françoise Gros, originates from the Gros family of Burgundy. The winery was formed by the union of Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent families, and currently focuses on vineyards in the Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, and Pommard areas. The winery established its winemaking facilities in Beaune around 1998, and the vineyards and winemaking have been managed by the family for generations.

Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Blanc is the winery's more entry-level, but quite terroir-driven white wine. The grapes come from vineyards at higher altitudes above Nuits-Saint-Georges. The cooler temperatures at higher altitudes, combined with limestone soils, typically give the wines crisp acidity, citrus aromas, and minerality. The winery also officially lists Hautes Côtes de Nuits Blanc as one of its main white wines.

2024 Vintage Description

Domaine A.-F. Gros Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Blanc 2024 is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, sourced from high-altitude vineyards with high limestone content. The 2024 vintage exhibits a fresh, precise, and mineral-oriented style, with a body that is not overly heavy, instead emphasizing acidity, texture, and pure fruit flavors.

The aromas are dominated by lemon peel, green apple, pear, white peach, and citrus, with hints of white flowers, light cream, toasted almonds, and chalky minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with bright acidity and crisp, concentrated fruit flavors; the mid-palate is smooth and slightly creamy, yet maintains good overall tension.

The oak treatment in the 2024 vintage is quite restrained, primarily serving to enhance texture and complexity rather than creating a heavy creamy or vanilla style. It has a clean, crisp finish with a salty and mineral note, making it suitable for drinking when young, but it can also be aged for a short to medium period.
