Domaine de l'Ecu Orthogneiss Melon B. 2022 is a biodynamic white wine from the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation in the Loire Valley, France. Made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne grapes, it has an alcohol content of 12% and originates from orthogneiss (upright gneiss) soil, exhibiting a strong minerality and a salty, sea-like character.

The aromas include white flowers, citrus, ginger, cumin, roasted almonds, and flint notes. The palate is straightforward and pure, with a chalky texture, a bittersweet pink grapefruit flavor, and a salty sea note. The finish is long and dry.

This wine was naturally fermented and aged in concrete tanks, without filtration or clarification, preserving its exceptional purity and character.

Domaine de l'Ecu has been organic since 1975 and biodynamic (Demeter) certified since 1998. The vines are on average 45-55 years old, with low yields, and belong to the top Muscadet with great aging potential, which can be stored for more than 10 years.
