Domaine des Sables Verts Saumur Champigny “Chaintres” 2021 is a Cabernet Franc from the Saumur-Champigny appellation in the Loire Valley, leaning towards a "modern, refined terroir" approach. Its key features are a single vineyard, old vines, and nature-friendly cultivation.

The winery was taken over in 2019 by Caroline Meurée and Hervé Maligne. It encompasses approximately 16.5 hectares across five villages, primarily growing Cabernet Franc with an average vine age of about 40 years.

“Chaintres” is one of the winery's core single vineyards, planted as early as the 1950s. Located near renowned estates such as Clos Rougeard and Thierry Germain, the soil is primarily composed of "green sand" (Sables Verts) layered with limestone and siliceous limestone, situated on the Tuffeau chalk parent rock, resulting in a pronounced minerality and refreshing acidity.

Harvesting is entirely by hand, fermentation uses natural yeasts, and the wine has obtained HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, moving towards full organic production.

In winemaking, fermentation is typically done in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in medium or large oak barrels depending on the wine, preserving the pure fruit aromas and lines of Cabernet Franc while avoiding excessive oakiness.
