Domaine Faiveley Marsannay Es Chezots Rouge 2021 is a village-level red Burgundy from the Marsannay appellation in Côte de Nuits. The wine is produced by Domaine Faiveley, one of Burgundy’s largest and most respected family-owned estates, based in Nuits-Saint-Georges and led by the 7th generation of the Faiveley family.

Vinification & Style
Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this wine comes from a 0.91-hectare parcel planted in 1970 and 1972, with soils combining marl, clay, pebbles and gravel. Es Chezots is noted for its tannic and opulent character, with strong ageing potential and possible future recognition as a Premier Cru. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (a portion new) for around 14 months. The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was cool and classic, marked by frost and rain, but the wines show increased freshness, purity of fruit and more judicious use of oak.

Colour: Intense ruby red.
Nose: Rich bouquet of red fruits, subtly complemented by prune notes.
Palate: Intense and structured, with a clear tannic character and ripe fruit depth. Medium to full-bodied, it has the firmness and concentration associated with Marsannay Es Chezots.
Finish: Persistent and age-worthy, highlighting the wine’s opulence and long-term potential.

Serving & Pairing
Decanting: Open 30–45 minutes before serving; extended decanting beneficial for younger bottles.
Serving temperature: 14–16°C.
Food pairing: Roast chicken, duck breast, roast goose, pork chop, braised beef short ribs, grilled lamb chops, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, and semi-hard cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.

Drinking Window
Enjoy from now through approximately 2030–2035. With bottle age, the wine should develop more savoury, earthy, dried fruit and spice complexity while maintaining structure and freshness.
