Description

Tellier's family history of vineyard cultivation dates back to 1938, but brothers Julien and Quentin Tellier began converting the family vineyards to their own estate in 2016, making it a typical independent smallholder Champagne producer.

The winery is located in Moussy, near Épernay, with vineyards spread across Moussy, Pierry, and Chavot-Courcourt, each plot representing a different micro-terroir.

Wine Description: Les Massales Extra Brut 2021 is a blend of three Champagne varietals, commonly cited as Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir. It is aged in barrels and matured on lees before bottling. The wine emphasizes purity, tightness, and structure, and as an Extra Brut, it has very low sugar content and a crisper palate.

Official/commercial sources also mention that this wine is bottle-aged for at least 40 months without clarification or filtration, preserving more of its natural character. Flavor Profile: This wine typically exhibits aromas of plum, almond, dried flowers, bread and butter, baked apple, marzipan, and quince. On the palate, it finishes with vibrant acidity, fine bubbles, a stoney minerality, and a slight bitterness.

The 2021 vintage was cooler, resulting in a wine that is more structured, articulate, and refreshing, rather than a full-bodied ripe fruit champagne.
