Winery Background

Established in 1979, Dry River is one of Martinborough's most representative boutique wineries, renowned for its long-aging wines such as Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer. The winery consistently adopts a low-yield, meticulous vineyard management and long-term aging approach, with wines primarily released through allocations.

The Gewürztraminer vines at Lovat Vineyard, over 20 years old, are one of Dry River's most important sources of aromatic varietals, contributing rich fruit flavors, spice notes, and good structure.

2018 Vintage and Style

2018 was a relatively warm vintage in Martinborough, particularly beneficial for Dry River's Alsace varietal. The winery states that this year allowed Gewürztraminer to mature slowly on the vine, resulting in a fuller, denser style with "full, decadent aromatics"; some Botrytis Bunch Selection wine was also blended in, adding honey, orange peel, and depth.
