Distillery Background & Characteristics

History & Location: Founded in 1824, Fettercairn Distillery is located in the northeastern Scottish Highlands (near Stonehaven). It holds the prestigious distinction of being one of the earliest distilleries in Scotland to obtain a legal distilling license.
Tropical Style: The distillery is renowned for producing Highland single malt whiskies with a vibrant, distinct tropical house style, setting it apart from its regional peers.
Scottish Oak Craftsmanship: This 18-year-old expression is uniquely finished in 100% Scottish oak casks, showcasing a rare, spicy, and structured woody character that complements the fruity core.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich and layered, exuding tropical fruit notes such as candied almonds, passion fruit, and guava. These are interwoven with aromas of roasted spices (cinnamon, cloves), fresh brioche, caramelized apples, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee beans, all resting on a base of subtle minty and eucalyptus herbal coolness.
Palate: Full and oily on the palate. Sweet tropical jam (pineapple, mango, papaya), caramel cream, and toffee flavors bloom first, before being enveloped by warming spices (ginger, white pepper, dried chili) and the firm woody tannins of Scottish oak.
