Famous for being matured in 100% first-fill ex-bourbon casks, this exceptional expression beautifully showcases the distillery's signature tropical fruit profile and elegant, structured woody character.

Distillery Background & Characteristics

History & Location: Founded in 1824, Fettercairn Distillery is located in the northeastern Scottish Highlands (near Stonehaven). It holds the distinction of being one of the earliest distilleries in Scotland to obtain a legal distilling license.
Tropical Fruit Profile: The distillery is renowned for producing Highland single malt whiskies with a distinctive, vibrant tropical house style, setting it apart from its regional peers.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Exuberantly fruity and sweet, with vibrant bursts of ripe banana, pineapple, and mango. These are interwoven with rich, dried fruit notes of candied apricot, peach jam, plum, and dried fig. The base is supported by vanilla cream, honeycomb, butter cake, gingerbread, cinnamon, white pepper, and subtle hints of cedarwood and hay.
Palate: Rich, full-bodied, and smooth. It opens with a burst of sweet tropical fruit smoothie and vanilla custard, quickly enveloped by warming spices (ginger, cinnamon, cloves) and woody tannins. The mid-palate reveals complex layers of caramelized orange, candied fruit peel, black coffee, licorice, and candied cherry, achieving a perfect balance between fruit and woody spices.
Finish: Medium to long, finishing warm and dry. Lingering notes of spice, dark chocolate, licorice, treacle, and a subtle smoky woody character remain, with the tropical fruit notes subtly re-emerging at the very end.
