Description
Gianni Gagliardo Barolo DOCG 2019 (JS93) (WE92)
Gianni Gagliardo is a highly regarded family estate in the Barolo area, known for a style that balances tradition and modern precision. Barolo DOCG 2019 is sourced from several selected Nebbiolo vineyards across the Barolo zone in the Langhe, expressing the classic character of Barolo with floral notes, tar and firm structure. In the well-balanced 2019 vintage, the wine shows refined tannins and elegance, making it both approachable in its youth and suitable for aging.
Winemaking & Style
Made from 100% Nebbiolo harvested from hillside vineyards in different Barolo communes, on marl and limestone-rich soils that enhance complexity.
Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel for about 15–20 days to extract colour and aroma, followed by around 24 months aging in large and medium-sized oak casks, then further bottle aging before release.
The style preserves the traditional Barolo structure and aging potential while refining the tannin texture so the wine can be enjoyed earlier, showing layers of red fruit, florals and spice.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Garnet with brick-orange hues at the rim.
Aroma: Rose petals, violet, red cherry, dried strawberry, licorice, dried spices with hints of leather and tar.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with firm yet gradually softening tannins and vivid acidity. Red fruits and floral notes lead into nuances of licorice, tea leaf and leather, finishing long with mineral and spicy undertones.
Style: A textbook Barolo combining floral elegance and structure; in 2019 the fruit is pure and the lines are refined, suitable for drinking now or aging a further 8–12 years.
