Tasting notes: This is what Glen Scocia Mermaid tastes like
Glenscotia describes the taste of the limited edition Glenscotia Mermaid in its official tasting notes:
Aroma: This whisky has a rich, slightly dry aroma. It also has notes of sea salt crystals and marine varnish. Behind it is an impression of a seaweed and caramel apple tart. Dundee Seville jam and toffee round out the aroma.
Taste: GlenScocia Mermaid Whisky has a creamy texture on the tongue. The taste is a bit sweet. There was French apple pie and a pinch of salt.
Finish: After drinking, the 12-year-old whisky has a long-lasting finish. The rest of the flavors are salty and have a lingering spicy edge.
The Campbelltown Icons special collection includes five whiskies
Gran Scotia announces five annual limited-edition series products. The series, called ‘Icon of Campbeltown’, will be available in Germany from mid to late November, with the first 12-year-old release being ‘Mermaid’. The whiskey is based on historical records and stories of Campbelltown resident John MacIsaac. Around 1811, he is said to have had a two-hour encounter with a mermaid. Whisky lovers can enjoy the audio-visual function.
Glen Scotia's Corner Mermaid
The first bottlings of the limited special series were aged for a total of 12 years. Glen Scotia Mermaid Whisky was originally aged in ex-bourbon barrels. The distillery then ages the single malt whisky in Palo Cortado sherry casks for eight months. The distillery bottles Scotch whisky at cask strength. The alcohol content is 54.1%. In doing so, Gran Scotia does not use any artificial colors or cold filtering. This means that limited edition whiskies impress with their pure whisky enjoyment. The whisky is currently available to purchase on the distillery’s official website for £90, which is equivalent to €105.00 based on the exchange rate. There is currently no recommended retail price (RRP) for the German market.
The bottle label and packaging design were created by artist Joel Holtzman. The artist, who hails from the Netherlands, is known for his concepts and illustrations for Marvel, Macmillan Publishing, Disney, and Lucasfilm, among others. He describes the design process as follows:
“I have always been fascinated by ancient times, traditions and beliefs. It was inspiring to learn about the history of this project. I start with a sketch, focusing on portraying the mood first, and then finalizing the details of the painting.
This fascination is once again reflected in the design of 12-year-old Glen Scotia The Mermaid. The bottle labels and outer packaging come in blue, gold and white. The name of the winery is written across the top in gold letters. The age indicated below is "12 years old". The words “Release No.1”, “Mermaid” and “Limited Edition” clearly indicate that this whisky is the first product of the special series of “Campbeltown Icons”.
