Under Billy Walker's management, The GlenAllachie has recently gained recognition for its sherry cask maturation. The brand's core philosophy revolves around using premium Spanish sherry casks to create a full-bodied, dark fruit and sweet spice style.

This makes it a distinctly "sherry-driven" brand within modern Speyside, suitable for those who appreciate a robust single malt.

Beat Characteristics: Batch 6 is composed of carefully selected PX/Oloroso sherry puncheons and hogsheads. The official description of the aromas includes forest fruits, rich espresso, sweet spice, and dark chocolate truffles.

Other tasting notes further mention dark cherries, spiced Seville orange, brandy-soaked raisins, honeycomb, polished oak, heather honey, treacle tart, bitter dark chocolate, hazelnut, and mocha.

Style Impressions

This is a very "rich and luxurious" aged sherry cask whisky: notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, spices, citrus peel, and sweet wood are prominent, creating a rich overall flavor profile with a warm and long finish.

If you prefer a smooth, sweet whisky, it might be too strong; however, if you love high-end sherry whiskies like GlenDronach and Macallan, this will be very appealing.
