This GlenDronach Ode To The Embers Highland Single Malt is part of GlenDronach's Master's Anthology series, showcasing a rare peaty and heavily sherry style in Highland single malt whisky.

Series: Master's Anthology, with "Ode to the Embers" being the peaty-themed chapter.

ABV: 48.4%, non-chill filtered to preserve its complex flavor profile.

Style: Matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, with added peaty spirit, creating a modern style of "sherry sweetness + soft smokiness," a more groundbreaking offering outside the brand's regular line.

Maturation and Cask Type:

Maturation casks: Primarily Oloroso sherry casks, layered with PX sherry casks, bringing out layers of dried fruit, caramel, dark chocolate, and a sweeter, smoother flavor.

Peat Setting: Highland peaty smoked malt, not following the Islay sea breeze or medicinal flavors, but rather a milder, peppery and smoky character with a slight saltiness, emphasizing balance and complexity.

Aroma: Ripe apple, apricot, orange, citrus marmalade, raisins, with sweet notes of caramel, toffee, and dark chocolate, underpinned by warm peaty smoke and spice.

Palmistry: Rich in fruit flavors, reminiscent of apple, apricot, orange peel, raisins, and Christmas cake, accompanied by caramel, toffee, and dark chocolate; the peat brings out peppery, smoky, and slightly salty notes, creating an overall sweet and smoky flavor with distinct layers.

Finish: Warm peaty smoke, dark fruit, citrus peel, and dark chocolate slowly unfold, with a slight nutty finish, long but not cloying.
