Distillery Introduction

Founded in 1833, Glengoyne Distillery is located at the crossroads of the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands. It is renowned for its slow distillation, unpeated style, and delicate, elegant spirit. Officially, its distillation speed is described as one of the slowest in Scotland, preserving a richer, smoother, and more refined flavor profile.

Glengoyne's core style is not smoky, but rather characterized by malty sweetness, citrus, honey, toffee, spices, and layers of sherry cask aromas. The distillery also emphasizes the quality of its sherry casks, using oak barrels for maturation to add dried fruit, nutty, cocoa, and toasty notes.

Spirit Characteristics

This 12-Year-Old PX Cask Edition Batch #004 is made in custom-made, first-fill PX sherry casks from Spain. Compared to the standard 12-Year-Old, the PX casks contribute a more pronounced sweetness, dried fruit, and dark fruit character.

PX sherry casks typically impart flavors to whisky such as raisins, figs, brown sugar, toffee, candied fruit, dark chocolate, and sweet spices.
