Description
🏔️ Distillery Background and Brewing Process
Drinkery Characteristics: Glengoyne, located in the Southern Highlands of Scotland, is renowned for its slow distillation and traditional worm tube condensation. It is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that still maintains 100% natural color and non-chill filtration.
Oak Masters' Series: A brand new series marking Glengoyne's shift from a traditional sherry cask-dominated style to an innovative approach using American white oak (Bourbon & Virgin Oak), showcasing the distillery's exceptional craftsmanship in non-sherry cask aging.
24-Year Aging Process:
Main Aging: Approximately 24 years in first-fill American bourbon barrels, imparting a fresh style of vanilla, honey, citrus, and tropical fruit.
Finishing Aging: A brief finish in new, untoasted Virgin Oak casks adds complexity with layers of coconut, white chocolate, and woody spices.
Blended Spirit: Blended by the Master Distiller to showcase Glengoyne's classic citrus, vanilla, and honey character, while Virgin Oak casks add depth with woody, spicy, and tropical fruit notes.
👃 Tasting Notes
Color: Pale golden with an amber sheen, clear as dawn.
Aroma (Nose):
The aroma is extremely complex and layered, exuding sweet fruity notes of passion fruit panna cotta, juicy fruit gum, dried mango, honey, and cinnamon, interwoven with deep hints of brioche, vanilla cream, freshly sawn wood, coconut milk, lime, citrus, lemon peel, green apple, banana, caramel, ginger, white pepper, coconut, white chocolate, woody spices, honeyed stone fruit, salted lemon, olive, roasted pineapple, biscuit, salted caramel, white chocolate, and licorice.
Palate:
On the palate, it is silky smooth, with sweet dark chocolate ganache, cocoa powder, chocolate pudding, vanilla, green apple, honey, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, light roasted spices (cinnamon), and tropical fruits (mango, pineapple) filling the mouth, accompanied by bright natural acidity and white oak tannins. It is sweet but not cloying, with an excellent balance. The mid-palate reveals complex layers of flavors: barley sugar, candied lemon, banana, caramel, ginger, white pepper, coconut, white chocolate, woody spices, honeyed stone fruit, salted lemon, green apple, olive, roasted pineapple, biscuit, salted caramel, white chocolate, and licorice. Full-bodied and clean-cut, with a moderate sweetness, it is highly invigorating.
Finish:
The finish is medium to long, leaving a lingering sweetness of dark chocolate, fruit, spices, white pepper, citrus, green apple, caramel, vanilla, oak spices, coconut, white chocolate, woody spices, honeyed stone fruit, salted lemon, green apple, olive, roasted pineapple, biscuit, salted caramel, white chocolate, and licorice. The overall impression is both sweet and savory, making it a highly versatile wine for food pairing.
